Simple Gene Product Search


This search form allows you to enter a name or partial term to quickly retrieve the desired gene product.

Use the wildcards '%' or '*' to find matches that contain your search term. '^' at the beginning of search term will find matches that start with that term. '$' at the end of search term will find matches that end with that term.

Other potentially interesting searches include s-transferase (details on all s-transferases in the database) or ribosomal chloroplast (details on ribosomal chloroplasts).


This search can be executed on every page on the site by utilizing the form in the upper right corner. Choose "gene products" from the drop-down menu, enter your search term in the field, and hit return to find the gene product you're looking for.



Gene Products Advanced Search


Gene product data at MaizeGDB is largely curated from the literature and is not complete. Researchers wishing to find gene models for a particular protein, motif or function should use UniProt (https://www.uniprot.org/). Use CornCyc (https://www.maizegdb.org/metabolic_pathways/) to download gene models assigned to a metabolic pathway.


Set Up Search Criteria

For example, the Gene Product aldolase, or Gene Products beginning with the letter c (using * or % wildcards)

For example, the locus bas1, or loci beginning with the letters bet (using * or % wildcards)
