Maize Genetics Executive Committee: Activities, 2006 Worked with the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) to help them communicate the importance of maize genome sequence to scientists and farmers. Developed a survey (results) that went to all maize genetics community members. Synthesized the survey and posted results on maizeGDB. The results were also sent to funding agencies and NCGA. Members of the committee, Ed Buckler and Jo Messing spoke at the Post Maize Genome Sequence meeting for NCGA (August 2006) Initiated plans for a new comprehensive Maize Handbook (Jeff Bennetzen and Sarah Hake, editors) Contributed by Sarah Hake
