SSR Data in MaizeGDB

SSR Research Tools

Simple SSR Search: This search form allows you to just enter a complete or partial name or repeat sequence to quickly retrieve the desired SSR.
Use the wildcards '%' or '*' to find matches that contain your search term. '^' at the beginning of search term will find matches that start with that term. '$' at the end of search term will find matches that end with that term.

Complete List of SSR Repeats: Provides a complete list of SSR repeats available in MaizeGDB, linked to their respective full SSR records.
SSRs Derived From Genes: An up-to-date listing of SSRs and the genes from which they are derived, formatted in an easily-downloadable table.

Discussion of SSR Data for the General Public

An SSR, or "Single Sequence Repeat", also called a "microsatellite", is a DNA pattern of 1 - 10 nucleotides that are repeated in tandem. SSRs are commonly used as genetic markers.

For more information about SSRs and how they are used, see Vierira et al., 2016.
